He passed away late last night after attending a supporters' awards night at the Winslow.

Brian joined Everton in 1955 and made his debut three years later during a 1-2 defeat at Birmingham City.

His Everton career spanned 13 years during which he played 534 times for the Blues, a club record number of appearances for an outfield player.

During that time he won the League title with Everton in 1963 and 1970 and lifted the FA Cup in 1966 after the famous 3-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

He was capped 26 times by England and was part of the 1970 World Cup team.

He'll probably be most fondly remembered by Blues everywhere for coining the phrase “One Evertonian is worth 20 Liverpudlians”.

A true Evertonian, he lived the dream for all of us and still worked for the club on matchdays.

Brian Labone, ‘The last of the Corinthinas', will be dearly missed by every Evertonian.
