Ronald Koeman has inherited the foundations of a squad that arguably should put up more of a challenge than it does in the Premier League

Clearly in their new manager they have someone who has a track record with taking on and managing difficult situations and finding successful resolutions

Southampton finished 6th after a second season of selling what most would term as key players.

Will Koeman have the midas touch with a second Premier League club? The 53-year-old dutchman is certainly looking to make some positive changes to transform a club that should be finishing higher than 11th given their history and Koeman has something of a reputation for delivering success with relatively modest budgets

According to the Daily Telegraph, Everton could benefit from the the likely exit of Juan Mata, a player sold by Mourinho when he was boss of Chelsea

There are also suggestions his No.8 shirt has been given to Zlatan Ibrahimovic which is as strong an indication as any of Mata's future at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder could go for as little as £20m according to the Independent bringing his three season spell at Manchester United which constituted 104 appearances and 26 goals to an end.

Mata wond the FIFA World Cup with Spain in 2010, UEFA European Championship in 2012, The Champions League with Chelsea in 2011-12 as well as the Copa del Rey, FA Cup and UEFA Europa League in a glittering career.
