Wilfried Zaha fears he could be priced out of a potential Crystal Palace exit for the second summer running.
Zaha has been constantly been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park in recent years and it appeared that he'd finally leave last summer when he handed in a transfer request.
Arsenal had a £40m bid rejected before signing Nicolas Pepe for a club-record £72m fee, while Everton were also turned away by Steve Parish despite eventually offering £70m plus midfielder James McCarthy in part exchange on the eve of the transfer deadline.
Palace had placed a £100m price tag on Zaha's head and despite the Ivorian enduring an indifferent campaign - with the financial strains of the COVID-19 pandemic now also a factor - The Sun understands that the Eagles are still demanding a hefty £70m for the winger's services this summer.
It's an asking price that the player's representatives fear could scupper a potential move.
The biggest stumbling block for any deal is the sell-on clause which Palace agreed with Manchester United when they brought the player back to Selhurst Park in 2015.
United paid £10m to make Zaha the last signing of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign but he only managed seven months at Old Trafford before being resold to Palace for £6m.
But it's believed that Palace promised United as much as 25% of any future sale - meaning they're likely to demand an inflated fee for the Ivorian to maximise their financial gain.
However, Eagles boss Hodgson has admitted he wouldn't be surprised to see Zaha depart the club this summer, with the former England manager blaming the player's poor run of form post-restart on his desire to move away.
Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Newcastle have emerged as potential suitors for the 27-year-old, while Everton's director of football Marcel Brands is said to be a huge admirer of the player. Although, it remains to be seen whether manager Carlo Ancelotti rates Zaha as highly as Brands.
