Comment: First Anniversary blues

Last updated : 19 March 2003 By Sean Graham

40,158 fans turned up to wish Boss David Moyes a Happy Anniversary number one as boss of Everton, but instead of being treated to some great football to celebrate this fact, they were mistreated to a snore draw with struggling West Ham as the Blues failed to score in front of their home fans.

This match will be long forgotten by the Everton fans that crammed into Goodison fully expecting three points and a continued push towards Europe. This frustrating match could now signal the end of the Blues European aspirations and qualification for the Champions League! This kind of football is not what the Goodison faithful are used to,and they hope that they will never see this again! Everton now have to turn their attentions to a massive match with Arsenal next Sunday, live on Sky, in hope rather than anying else, although it has been done before, does anyone remember the name ? Wayne Rooney !!!

Arsenal have not been firing on all cylinders themselves and may have a European hangover-if it was anything like mine last week Everton have every chance !-but they can't be beaten by Everton twice in one season can they?

It will be a massive match as I said but they owe the boss one after last Saturday's dross and mis-performance!

Other Everton News.

The Club has announced that they will be going to China as part of their pre-season plans and also as part of the deal with Kejian. This will be a great tour and I can just see Andrew, Tommy S and Tommy B looking out their passports and David Bowie/Level 42 records-China Girl, The Chinese Way before the end of the season!

Do you need anyone to carry your bags lads?

Also double bad news for the club. 1st-Alessandro Pistone may miss the rest of the season if as first thought, he may need a hernia repair! Good Luck to him, lets hope he comes through this ok and it is not as bad as we think.

2nd-Brian McBride may have played his last match for the club! It is thought that the club will not want to spend a million pounds or more on a player in his thirties so he may go back to America. If he does I would like to wish him all the very best and Thank him for everything he has done for Everton FC!

One bit of untrue transfer news, unfortunately the club will not be moving for West Ham's young star Joe Cole!

When I heard this one I thought this would be a great move for the club, but it is not to be. Pity as Cole is one of England's up and coming stars!! I will end on a piece of Good News for Everton and one of their favourite sons. Former player and Manager, and all round good-guy and very likeable man, Colin Harvey, has been granted a Testimonial by the club in association with Blueblood .I can't think of a more deserving Everton man than this! Well done to the club for this and I hope that the fans turn out for an Everton man through and through.

Also why not get Inter Milan over for this match as Colin made his Everton debut v them in 1963? This would be a great match and night for Colin and Evertonians alike!
