Comment: Let's hear it for the Moyes

Last updated : 10 December 2002 By Sean Graham
Well what a mixed bag have I got to tell you since my last article! Our Winning run has came to an end with a cruel defeat at Newcastle ,one cracker of a Shearer goal and one lucky Bellamy goal but after his sending off against Inter that mid-week maybe he and Newcastle were due a bit of luck (stop being so generous – ed).

Still it gets the press off our backs for a wee while with this unbeaten run stuff and lets the team get on with their business of winning matches apart from the cup game against Chelsea! The less said about that match the better. I don't think I have seen such a poor display from an Everton side since Moysie took over!

All this and young Wayne missing a penalty into the bargain it just wasn't our night !!! The only good thing is that Chelsea visit Goodison on Saturday and surely it won't be the same again. Give Zola a bottle of your best bubbly Bill and that will keep him quiet for the rest of the day.

Another bit of bad news before I depress all you Blues is that Liverpool are already in a great mood and looking forward to the Merseyside Derby on December 22.The reason for this is Joseph Yobo and David Unsworth will not be able to play in this match because of suspension, This is a real shame. If we had beaten Chelsea they would have been ok but now we will have to do without them both for our biggest match of the season and our early Christmas present from Santa.

Now the Good News

David Moyes has won the Manager of the Month for November, and quite rightly so. David Won all four League matches in November and took Everton to third in the Premiership during this time. My congratulations go to David as he has worked wonders since coming to the club and he deserves the award more than any other, well done David here's hoping it's the first of many Trophies that you bring to Goodison. Again up here in Scotland, everyone is talking about Everton. Be it my Dad, Mick and Bobby in the Viking Bar to the pundits and pressmen and woman up here, people are talking!

The latest rumours sweeping around are that David Moyes will one day be a Celtic Manager. This is only doing the rounds as Martin O'Neill has not signed his new contract yet and David being an ex-Celt and doing extremely well at Goodison with limited resources and knows a player when he sees one, which brings me one to our new signing......... you may have heard of this guy he has been solid as a rock at the back, he was unfairly sent off v Newcastle, he was picked as the PFA Fans player of the month for November he is the Magnificent Joseph Yobo!

The good news is that Joseph has agreed to sign a long term deal with the club in January which should tie him to the club for another four years at least! The million pounds that Everton put down at the start of the season seems to be the best money spent and Marseille seem happy with the deal also. The only other bit of news from the Scottish front concerning Everton and possible players moving is concerning James McFadden the young hot shot from Motherwell. It's seems that the club are keeping tabs on him along with a few others and may move when the Transfer Window opens in January, but we shall wait and see. The other big news concerning the club is this Stadium debate and the move to King's Dock. Bill Kenwright has vowed to have the financial package in place within a week keeping the dream home move alive and the club have been given until December 31st to prove that they have the £30 million deal that would keep everyone happy, here's hoping that everything goes to plan and we all get good news for the New Year !

Other News Lee Carsley has been given the all clear after a foot scan. Paul Gerrard has gone on loan to Ipswich-Good luck Paul! Ex-Goodison Park favourite Mike Newell is the new boss at Hartlepool-Good Luck Mike! Ex-Gaffer Walter Smith is being linked with the job at Aberdeen ,maybe that is why he had a wee heart scare! The Dons and Gers don't see eye to eye (understatement of the day – ed). Take Care Walter!

Old Blues favourite Anders Limpar has retired from the game, all the best Anders and thanks for the memories! I would like to wish all Evertonians everywhere a good weekend and I hope you are the only team in Blue to win this weekend!
