Elementary my dear Watson

An away win for Everton at last ! this is the one that keeps us in the Premiership for another season. The goal from the ginger prince himself,Steve Watson gave us a vital win and the three points required for Everton to start to think about enjoying their next couple of matches.

The match against Blackburn is one that we can now enjoy and instead of being a boring tight 0-0 draw we can enjoy a thrilling 3-3 draw with Lee Carsley scoring his first goal for the club... the bookies love me !

A thrilling draw would see both my Dad and I go home happy but a win for Everton is what I want or else we can kiss goodbye to Europe for another season...or maybe not ! It's a long story and I will go into it if and when it is necessary . Now to matters on the transfer front, there is none ! It would be pointless for me to say that Everton are chasing Ian Walker,Gary Caldwell and various other signing targets when the Manager has said ,"The Everton fans will be the first to know of any transfer dealings at Goodison Park ."That's good enough for me. The one bit of transfer news or one player not wanting to leave Goodison is David Weir.

David has heard, like all of us that Manchester United are supposed to be interested in taking David to Old Trafford in the Summer but David said this,"As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy here at Everton and to me it is a great club.I want to stay here and be part of what is happening with the new manager."This is great news for Evertonians as David and Stubbsy have been great in defence and we should be building round them for a few season's atleast before the zimmer frames come ! (sorry lads ) The injury news concerning Gary Naysmith is not good. The defender had an operation on his ankle in March and it seems that the injury will take longer to heal than first thought. We hope that Gary takes all the rest needed and he comes back fit and raring to go for both club and country, all the best Gary ! Everton are to appear live on Sky in May with the first and second legs of their Cup Final with Aston Villa live on Sky on Tuesday May 14th (8.05 k/o) and Saturday 18th May(12 pm k/o ) Best of Luck to the Young Blues on Both of those days.

A couple of points before I go it has just been announced that Alan Irvine we rejoin Everton as part of the backroom staff at the end of the season after agreeing to leave Newcastle . All at Goodison welcome Alan back home again and wish him well in his new job. Remember after the Blackburn match Everton travel to Scotland for a match against Falkirk to celebrate the club's 125th anniversary,it should be a good match but unfortunately it is on the same day as the second leg of the champions League semi-final second leg, let's hope that Falkirk have a TV screen at Brockville, just for interest sake !

I will be at Brockville on Tuesday so I will write my Match Report with my column next week, hopefully it will be a good night and Everton bring up a full strength squad as it's not often that the Blues are in Scotland !
