I guess that's why they call it the Blues

Well were do I start this week? Scotland? Losing to debatable penalties at St.Mary's? Injuries?

I just don't know where to start! Let’s deal with Everton first and foremost. After everything going reasonably well at the start of the season things have turned around and taken a turn or two for the worse!

The defeat against Southampton was hard to take especially when you create the amount of chances that we did but that is no use when you don't convert any, and you are then beaten by a debatable spot kick that should never have been awarded in the first place!

Yes sure David Weir had his hand up but Pahars went down very easily and you could see why David Moyes was upset with the award. Still now that is over and done we must get our heads up for Saturday and our home match with Middlesbourgh. This is a must win match but they are playing well at the moment under Steve McLaren and we hope that Maccarone does not go pasta our defenders or he too could make a meal of it and make David Moyes say Mamma Mia !!!! (oh dear – ed) or words to that effect!

It has been a bad week for David Weir with conceding the penalty at St Mary's and not having one of his better games for Scotland v the Faroe Islands last Saturday, mind you who did? David was criticised heavily in the press up here for his performance. Ok the big man did not have one of his better matches but that is the only time that I have seen David not play up to his normal 100% standard just goes to show he is human after all!

I would say get off David's back, I hope he and Berti Vogts are given every chance to get Scotland back on the road to Portugal 2004 again!

More bad news for the club was the news that Big Dunc could be forced to quit if his persistent back problem does not ease, that is bad news for the player and the club. I would just like to wish Big Dunc a full recovery as I know that he is loved by every Evertonian ,all the best big man! Also ruled out for a month due to a bruised arm is keeper Richard Wright, just as he was beginning to show all the doubters they were wrong after the great performance at the Stadium of Light, again all the best Richard a full recovery is required to get the club up that table again! Also it is true that the club have not won a game since Richard's injury.....is he our lucky mascot? (I don’t know but Steve Simonsen clearly isn’t! – ed) It's up to Steve and Paul to prove me wrong Also good wishes for a full recovery to Gary, Alessandro, Joseph, Steve and all the lads who are attending the treatment table at the moment.

Scottish Scene

Well it's all change at the top after the mid-week matches in the Premier League. Celtic have been knocked off the top spot for the first time in nearly two years after their 2-1 defeat at Fir -Park in BBC Scotland's live match, actually it was well deserved. The Fir-Park club won with goals from Fagen and McFadden-this boy is a real prospect just a pity that Bill or Phil don't have a spare million or so in their pocket ! Rangers go top after beating Hearts 2-0 other matches results were Aberdeen 1 Dundee Utd 2,Hibs 1 Dunfermline 4,Dundee 2 Livingston 1,Kilmarnock 1 Partick Th 0

Thanks to Andrew and Tommy for their weekly Everton updates, hope this weekend is kind to all Evertonians
