In memory Cloughie!

Sitting in third place in the League at the moment and through to the
next round of The League Cup, you could say that everything is going well on the good ship Goodison at the moment but don't talk too soon!

Of course David Moyes and everyone at the Club should be happy with their present form but we should beware, this squad still needs one or two new faces in the January transfer window with the promised money that is coming into the club, a late Christmas present from Mr Kenwright we hope.

As I said wins over Man City (1-0),Middlesbrough(1-0),Portsmouth(1-0) all goals scored by our two new signing, Marcus Bent and Tim Cahill which is great news for both the guys and all at the club. As well as the great League form, our win down at Bristol in the Carling Cup on penalties, with Lee Carsley scoring the winning penalty. This man has been in great form of late and he puts it down to his lack of International matches for the Republic but I put it down to sheer hard work and great team spirit this year. Maybe in Lee's case he is shining out more because Everton are playing as a team and are not the one man team that everyone thought we were.

Speaking of that one man, Mr Rooney (or the King of Manchester as he is now known), you can't help but admire how the young man took his chance at Old Trafford in a Champions League match to make his mark by scoring a hat-trick on his United debut. The Red Devils now know what all Evertonians have known for years, this player is special and just may be the difference between winning the Champions League or not!

Wayne congratulations son you deserve to be on the big stage but lets hope that it is not too long before Everton are joining you on Europe's top table, the Blues fans deserve another crack at Europe at least!

Last weekend before the high's of Everton's 1-0 win over Portsmouth, I watched the Nottingham Forest v West Ham match to pay respects to one of the great Manager's Of the English and European game, the late great Brian Clough.Cloughie was one in a million and what he did for Derby and Nottingham Forest winning Championship's and two European Cup's and a Super Cup with Forest will never be forgotten, he was a very witty Manager and outfoxed many teams on route to seeing his Forest teams rule Europe.

He will be sadly missed, my thoughts are with his family, friends and all at Nottingham Forest Football Club. Cloughie had time for everyone and once sent me a signed photo with the message "Be Good Sean ".

Looking forward to this weekends match with Spurs at Goodison, I can't help thinking back to my trip to see the Toffees win 3-1 on Good Friday,(I am still looking for a copy of The match if anyone can help me !)What a great time that I had with my mates in Liverpool and I am hoping that it will not be too long before I come back to that great city once again!
Before I sign off may I just wish Ex-Evertonian Mark Hughes all the very best in his new job at Blackburn,as long as it is not at Everton's expense!
Keep up the good start to the season ! Till next time take care and come on you Blues !
