Sean Graham on the close of the season

Last updated : 14 May 2004 By Sean Graham
After yet another late winner from the opposition, this time Bolton, I would needed to have watched a Peter Kay DVD to bring a smile to my face after yet another defeat and this time at Goodison!

I cannot believe the way the Everton continue time and time again to shoot themselves in the foot and give easy goals to most of their opponents.
Last season, Goodison was a fortress and teams were finding Everton hard to break down but this year it is the opposite, we are giving them away like free cd's in the Sunday Newspapers, just what is wrong with this team this year?
I am glad that after the defeat and my article last week about giving DM some money to play with, both Manager and players alike are coming out publicly and stating we need cash to take this team forward, it is no use going into the new season with the current squad, it is simply not good enough!

I am sorry for slating the present team as I love them like they were my own but I don't think the Manager or my pals and the Goodison park faithful should have to put up with this dross for much longer.

David Moyes was one of the most respected young Managers in England and after his first season in charge at Everton you could see why, but this season has been a joke!

I don't know why but I can't count on one hand the games we have played well in and that is just not on I was lucky to see Everton play Spurs this year and their first half play was a joy to behold and in general I was informed that was one of the best displays of the season but why then can we not do this week in week out?

I know the Manager has been offered a new contract but why should he
sign it? Would you? He has a reputation to think of. Just think back to Walter Smith, he came down from Rangers were he was used to winning things to take charge at Goodison, big things were expected, nothing ever happened, the team nearly got relegated, Walter had little or no money to spend and he had to balance the books, eventually he was sacked!

I don't want the same thing to happen to David Moyes! David is thought of as a God by the Blue half of Merseyside but even he cannot work miracles with no money!

Why is it that Liverpool have a line of folk wanting to pour millions into the club? Everton must take a serious look at themselves before they slide even further behind Liverpool and even Charlton and Bolton!

I can only hope that Bill Kenwright, God Bless him I know that he is
doing all he can but he needs help, as the Beatles said but sooner rather than later would help!

I can only hope that this Saturday we can end the season on a high, surely one win is not too much to ask!

Only two things to say before I go:

* Thanks to my pals from Seville,Johnny and Mo for the Sevilla top,it was very much appreciated, I know that you will still be celebrating Saturday's win
* Andy again thanks for all the programmes and Evertonians, I don't know what I would do without you and the two Tommy's.
