The view from up north

Well it had to happen sometime and after the week I had it was no
Surprise that it was against Man "Millionaires " City and our old friend smiling Nick(Anelka) who scored a hat-trick against his old foes, the swine!
After a good start to the season drawing with Spurs(2-2)beating
Sunderland (1-0) with a goal from Kevin Campbell and a superb penalty save from Richard Wright from a Kevin Phillips spot kick,I told you this man would come good and after a wee talking to from David Moyes and backing from the fans King Richard proved that he is the keeper that we all knew he was ! Good on him !

After those two matches we played Birmingham and snatched a 1-1 draw at home thanks to a David Unsworth goalin the last minutes of the match. Then it was on to Maine Road for our first defeat of the season..actually by the scoreline you would think that City had dominated the match but in truth Peter Schmeichel was City's best player!

Anyhow after that match the squad have a break now for the
International matches so that gives some of the Everton lads time off....or maybe not these days!

On Wednesday night the Everton reserve team took on Manchester United
reserves in font of a crowd of 2,519 and they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Leon Osman nine minutes from time.

United gave a debut to new signing Ricardo Lopez and also included
David May,Luke Chadwick and Diego Forlan. The punters in the crowd witnessed a good game of football played at a good pace from both sides and saw some great goalkeeping from Paul Gerrard and Lopez it could have been Premiership standard this match !

The win keeps up Andy Holden's 100% record at the start of the season
And saw some good performances from Gerrard,Feng,Yobo and Rooney which should please not just Andy but David Moyes also. Here was the team line-up :

Gerrard,O'Hanlon,Feng,Yobo,McLeod,Watson,Osman,Gemmill(c)Rodrigo,Rooney,Chadwick

Subs-Pilkington,Cole,Carney,Schumacher,Brown

Well Done to Andy and the boys keep up the good work. Other Everton news and first of all the Good News,Richard Wright is fit and has not broken any bones in his hand as first thought, thank goodness. The club hope to have him back in time for the match with Southampton.
New arrival-The club have appointed Mick Rathbone as  physiotherapist, David Moyes has worked with Mick at Preston North End and has wanted to bring him to Goodison ever since. Baz as he is affectionately known was at Preston for seven years but said",It was a wrench to leave Preston after seven years but I am delighted to be here".
We wish Baz all the best with the club....has big Dunc been to see you yet ?We might get him into double figures now..apperances not goals I mean!
