Louis Platt's Everton shopping list

The transfer deadline is coming closer and closer and Evertonians are panicking about the lack of depth in the squad, the press are continuously pointing out that more attacking options are needed. Kevin Campbell, Duncan Ferguson, Tomasz Radzinski and Nick Chadwick can't seem to do enough to keep Everton up in the premier league is pretty much the opinion of every blue out there. So to start with I'll introduce some new forwards who have the one thing that our attack currently has a shortage of, pace. Radzinski is very fast but has low stamina and seems to tire towards the 70minute mark.

Robbie Winters currently plays for SPL side Aberdeen, it widely expected that he will be leaving the Pittodrie outfit in the summer and he has scored eleven times for Scotland. He is a Scottish international who has previously played for Dundee United. It is likely that he would be a target for Walter Smith because he is Scottish and a proven goalscorer who would more than certainly jump at the chance to play for Everton to improve his chances with Scotland under Berti McVogts. Taken from an Aberdeen fansite: "Robbie will have to carry round his neck Billy Dodds' success since leaving the club with him as long as he is here. Having been brought here as Doddsy went to Tannadice with a bucket of cash, Winters has struggled at times, especially when played out of position.

I still think we got the better end of the deal, and that we have still to see the best of Robbie. His tireless running and dribbling skills are a joy when in full flow and he has an eye for goal. Whilst on the brink of International honours in 2000, these would not be far away if he could add a few goals to his impressive displays, and for my sake…. No more Jess like tantrums during games." Jon Macken is a product of Manchester United's youth system, spending a year as a professional at Old Trafford without making a senior appearance, before moving to Deepdale in July 1997.

The young striker displayed potential in his first season - in which he registered eight goals. In 1998/99, Macken bettered that total by one and his encouraging performances set the stage for the highly successful Second Division Championship campaign of 1999/2000. Jon's 25 goals made him the Club's top scorer and was a major catalyst for the promotion success. His strength and ability to create space in and around the penalty area made him a defender's worst nightmare and he was voted into the PFA Second Division team of the year. The Manchester product continued his potent form after stepping up a division last season - his 41 outings bringing a return of 22 goals and steering the side to a place in the play-off final.

Also is it worth mentioning that the following are available on bosman at the end of the season? Jon Dahl Tomasson - Feyenoord (Forward)Ismael Urzaiz - Athletic Bilbao (Forward)Juninho - Atletico Madrid (Midfielder)Jay-Jay Okocha- Paris-SG (Midfielder)Alin Stoica - Anderlecht (Midfielder)Frank de Boer - Barcelona (Midfielder)Stefan Effenberg - Bayern Munich (Midfielder)Kevin Muscat - Wolverhampton Wanderers (Right Back)Aitor Karanka - Real Madrid (Centre Back)Antonio Zago - AS Roma (Left Back)Robert Enke – Benfica (Keeper)I would love to see Juninho and Okocha wearing the blue of Everton and this could easily happen as Juninho was open in the press about saying he loved his time in England and Jay Jay Okocha has been linked with a move to Everton all season.

The only problem involved is the expected wage demands which aren't actually a problem as the club can afford the high wages due to the fact the players would be coming in on the Bosman ruling. Also Alin Stoica may be lured to the club if a certain mr Radzinski is a persuasive man, I know you think the midfield is ok now with the recent splashing out on Linderoth(3.5m), Carsley (2m) and Ginola (free) but we could always use some depth in the team and sell on the rotting wood (Cleland).
