Everton v Middlesbrough

…but Boro are one such team.

It was probably worse for them though as their 0-4 defeat to Aston Villa was at home and came just two games after they were leathered at Highbury.

Having said that, ours came straight after a 0-4 home defeat to Bolton and just one month after we'd been webbed by the same scoreline at the Hawthorns…so enough of trying to prove who's the crappest, let's have a look at Saturday's match.

Boro go into this one having won three and lost three of their last six. We go into the match with three draws and three defeats under our belts. To make things worse we've not scored since we knocked two past
Sunderland a month ago! So it's anyone's guess where this game is headed.

Historically we've done better against Boro than they have against us. The two teams have met 21 times in the Premiership and Everton have won nine, drawn six and lost six. We've also put 34 goals past them compared to their total of 24.

But we've saved our best form for the home matches against them as we've beat them 1-0 on their last two visits and they've not won a league match at Goodison since the last day of the 1999/00 season.

Our record at the
Riverside isn't quite as good but it's not as bad as you might think. Of the 10 games we've played up there we've won three, drawn three and lost four. We've not been beaten up there since New Year's Day 2002 when a goal from Gianluca (I hope he's got nieces and nephews) Festa secured a 1-0 win for Boro.

The last time we won up there was in September 2000 when two goals from Francis Jeffers cancelled out a seventh minute own goal by Steve Watson.

2005/06 has been a bit of a mad season for
Middlesbrough really. At times they've been absolutely shocking in the league but they've beaten Man United 4-1 and Chelsea 3-0 up at the Riverside and they've made the semi final of the FA Cup and the final of the UEFA Cup. Speaking of which, I am genuinely made up for them, they have made two amazing comebacks and all that, but don't you feel just a little jealous? And it really shows how much we buggered things up by getting hammered by the third best team in Bucharest!

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, they also got to the quarter finals of the Carling Cup after knocking us out in round three.

Although they've got a creaky old forward line in the shape of Hasselbaink and Viduka (possibly the Premiership's most painfully slow player), they certainly know how to find the back of the net as they've netted 16 between them this season. And, just in case their legs go, they've also got Yakubu who has knocked in 13 this season too!

This will be
Middlesbrough's second match in a run of five games in ten days. The first one against Steau Bucharest went well enough so let's hope the Blues upset the party and go out there to win.

The last time we played them was in the middle of our mad little run of wins (
Albion away aside!) after the 1-1 draw against Chelsea. We won that one through a header by James Beattie from a wicked Andy van der Meyde cross. The same result would be good this time, but I won't be putting any money on it!
