Ref watch...Alan Wiley

He has issued 94 yellows and five red cards and his ratio of 3.30 cards per game is about average for a Premiership referee.

He has refereed four Everton matches this season and issued 10 cautions, three of which have gone to Tony Hibbert but, seeing as he's out injured, he'll have to find someone else to pick on in this one.

He has refereed 10 Everton games over the last three seasons and booked 16 players. We've won four, drawn one and lost five of those games, the most notable win being this season's 1-0 home win over Arsenal. He booked Beattie, Nuno Valente, Hibbert and Cahill in that game and it was the last Everton match he took charge of.

The most notable defeat amongst the games Alan Wiley has refereed was also against Arsenal and it was last season's 0-7 hammering. I wonder how we'd react to that defeat this season, given that loads of people were booing a narrow defeat to an excellent Tottenham side the other week? They don't still have cushions in the Main Stand do they?!

He has refereed just one West Brom game over the past three seasons and that was their 0-1 defeat at Liverpool in December. Although Albion got beat, a 0-1 defeat probably represented a good result as they have lost 0-5 and 0-6 the last two times Liverpool have been down there!

Anyway, back to the ref…there'll undoubtedly be bookings in this match, but given that neither team really has anything to play for but pride (remember that lads?!), he should have a pretty easy time of it. And I guarantee Kevin Kilbane will be booked if he plays…trust me!
