A review of the transfers

Ok, here is a run down of the players we have signed and how i think they will fair. I have omitted Yobo and Tie because you all know all about them already.

Kevin Kilbane
Has suffered at Sunderland, never really capturing the form that valued him at £2.5m a couple of years ago. However, whilst he may not set the world on fire, he provides good cover, and also competition for both wide left and right midfield positions. David Unsworth should be most worried, with Naysmith playing well he will have to buck his ideas up to retain a first team place.

James McFadden
This is one hell of a signing, if he lives up to his potential. McFadden has scored goals for fun in Scotland, but can he do it down here? Maybe, but that might be missing the point. He is also a very capable left winger, and given other recent movements he is more likely to play here initially. This has the added benefit of reducing the pressure on him to score.

Nigel Martyn
Another great buy. As I have said recently, this guy was an international before losing his place in the Leeds team, he was just unfortunate to have another England keeper in the same squad. I think he will be the first choice before long, but Wright has the edge on him age wise, so long term he is still the man. However, he has lots to learn, and he can have no better tutor than Martyn.

Francis Jeffers
The best decision the Everton board ever made was to sell Jeffers, but not because I don't like him. £8m was a hell of a lot for an unproven 20 year old, and Everton were right to take it. Now, with the transfer fees well down, we can have the same player back, older, stronger and having learned from the best, for less than half the price. Jeffers is already talking about making the move permenant. Trust me, if he stays injury free, we will have the two hottest young strikers in the country playing for us.
