Blomqvist was brought off with only 15 minutes remaining, a move which Moyes made for tactical reasons. Blomqvist made his feelings known to Moyes in a very public way as he took his seat on the bench.

Moyes said: "He was right to be unhappy when he got pulled off because he had played very well.

"I made the change for a tactical reason because I felt there was too much pressure. If we put another forward on and played the same system as Bolton then it would have eased it a little.

"I explained that to him and he was right to be unhappy, but wrong to react in the way he did and I let him know that right away."
