Blues agree Johnson deal

Everton and Palace have agreed on a fee for Andy Johnson which will see the striker become Everton's record signing should it all go to plan.

Which, let's face it, is very doubtful as nothing ever goes to plan.

What's more likely is that we will eventually sign him, but not before he's been to the JJB a couple of times to have a look around.

After several meetings with the Latics' board, he'll get off to have a think about their offer and be appraoched by some biffs in the car park, asking for his autograph.

The deal will then break down quicker than you can sing 'Who needs Mourinho? We've got Paul Jewellio' as the locals are a bit too...well...local!

At which point Everton will swoop and he'll be holding a scarf above his head by August 18th. But a slight knee strain will force him to miss the opening game of the season!

People seem to be a little unsure about whether or not he's the man for the job, but his scoring record in the last couple of season's speaks for itself.

It was well documented that he netted 21 goals for Palace as they plunged from the Premiership in 2004/05 and last season saw him net 15 league goals despite missing two months of the season.

He also netted 28 league goals for Palace in their promotion season of 2003/04.

His signature will give our forward line a very 'former England frontman' feeling as he can kiss goodbye to another England call-up if he decides to commit his future to the Blues!

And does anyone else get the feeling that this whole proposed deal has come a season too late?!

May as well hand that shirt back now lad!
