Campbell will miss cup clash

It looks likely that Duncan Ferguson may be brought back slightly earlier than planned to cope with the absence of the club captain.

After the game, Walter Smith said: "Any team in our position will not be looking at other results, we have to do things on our own. Our recent form has been reasonably steady but we have had a hard run of games, against Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds.

"We performed okay without getting a great deal from them, so tonight was disappointing because we played better against the better teams. But we deserved no better than we got.

"West Ham have got the best home record in the league and haven't let in many goals so we knew it was not an easy place to come.

"But looking at the way the game went, if we'd tried to assert ourselves more we could have achieved a better result. I don't think we played nearly as well as we have done in recent matches."
