Depressing deadline day!

In a summer where we've courted such international stars as Joao Moutinho, Stephane M'Bia and that Milito fella, we've ended up securing deals for a host of underwhelming, and mostly injured, players!

Lars Jacobsen was first through the door, a 28-year-old perma-crock full back that turned out just seven times for the eventually relegated FC Nuremburg…and that's their name, none of that Nurnberg bollocks!

The Blues then signed 26-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder Segundo Castillo on a season-long loan from Red Star Belgrade.

Next up was Louis Saha, a 30-year-old perma-crock forward, albeit one with a bloody good goals-to-games ratio in the Premier League…we'll just have to wait and see how the new number 9 turns out, if he ever turns out!

Then, and this is the cherry-on-the-cake, we sign former Stoke, Wigan, Preston, Middlesbrough, Wolves, Stockport, Crystal Palace and Clitheroe stalwart Carlo Nash on one of those 'two-year-with-an-option-for-a-third-year' deals that seem to be have been de riguer at Goodison this summer.

The 34-year-old, but not injury prone, 'keeper also spent a spell at Manchester City, back when they were floundering in Division One.

And City have today become the richest club in the world and have signed Brazilian star-striker Robinho from Real Madrid for a British record fee of £32.5 million…a price tag that even Chelsea baulked at!

See, I told you it was a depressing deadline day?!

'We're all going on a European tour'...enjoy it, it could be our last for a good while!
