Bill Kenwright has moved closer to finalising a deal for £13m of investment from the Fortress Sports Fund, which added to the £10m already recieved from Man Utd for he we do not speak of, could make for a hefty transfer budget some January.

"Hopefully the money - possibly £28m, £29m will be available in January," Kenwright told BBC Radio Five Live. "Samuelson [from the sports fund] will join the board and the investment group will be part of the shareholding. I'll remain as chairman."

Kenwright added: "I'm not going to tell you the amount of money David has got (didn't you just do that? - Ed). David knows the amount he has got and he is very happy with it. We have to look at fresh faces in January and in the summer."
