Everton reject second Newcastle bid for Rooney

Last updated : 26 August 2004 By Austin Rathe
"Newcastle have submitted an increased offer for Wayne Rooney - one which has been turned down," said Everton's head of public relations, Ian Ross.

The move comes as Man United had a £20m bid rejected.

Alex Furguson has made his intentions clear, he will not allow anyone else to sign Rooney.

Ferguson told MUTV: "Rooney's a fabulous player - he showed that at Euro 2004 - and is a young player. He's not the finished article yet, but we've got experience of bringing young players to the club and bringing them on."

More news as we get it.
