Everton's Goalkeeping coach Chris Woods has been a regular visitor to Cambridge recently, watching Ruddy make the first team place his own. A pre-contract agreement has now been signed which will see Ruddy move to Goodison in the Summer.
He will train with Everton for two days a week between now and then.
"I'm pleased for the boy," said United boss Steve Thompson. "He's a very good goalkeeper and I'll wish him all the best after the end of the season."
