Everton will appeal against FA action

Both Everton and Fulham were charged this morning after the 22 man incident that led to both sides losing a player. Everton may well have a good chance at an appeal as video evidence clearly showed Fulhams Barry Hayles spitting at David Weir.

Walter Smith said: "As a club we will have to sit down and discuss the situation and our action. We felt pretty hard done by on the day and we will certainly be vigorously presenting our evidence to a tribunal."

Everton spokesman Ian Ross said: "We have asked the FA for a personal hearing so that we can state our case."
