Everton's January budget thought to be around £10m

A good number of names have been mentioned recently, but when you start to do the maths, it becomes clear that we won't be seeing most of them at Goodison come next year.

Below is a little mini-analysis of the options available.

James Beattie

If there is one part of the team that needs to be looked at it is our strikers (or more accuratly, striker). Marcus Bent has been doing a brilliant job for us, but we needs support, the 4-4-1-1 formation is only employed because it has to be. With a January price tag of around £6m, i'd say the chances of us signing him are high.

Scott Parker

Now this one would be good. Parker has thus far failed to impress Jose Mourinho at Chelski, so a move away from London is possible. However, it is unlikely that he would be released for anything less that £5m, making the sums quite tricky to do.

Owen Hargreaves

This is a name that has been linked to us for quite a while. The ever impressive player seems to be availabe to buy, which is surprising to say the least. More versatile than Parker in that he can play wide, he might be able to fill the gap we have down the right wing (before you all start, Leon Osman is wasted there, and Steve Watson is a defender, always will be). However, once again its the price tag that may prove to be an issue.

So, if £10m is the budget, I can only see us getting one of the above. Disagree? Let us all know on the message board.
