The new scottish coach spoke to Ferguson after he scored in everton's 2-1 win over Fulham on saturday.

Vogts said: "I saw Everton's game against Fulham on Saturday and after the game I had a small talk with big Duncan Ferguson about whether he was prepared to play for Scotland.

"But he is disappointed about the past and said that he cannot forget anything.

"I respect Duncan, but I don't know why he can't forget. He is young enough to learn more things and he must forget.

"But I wished him all the best and he told me that he wished me all the best and hoped that Scotland would qualify for the next European Championships.

"But now I have to look at other young players who can play for Scotland in the future."

Ferguson has refused to play for his country since the Scottish FA refused to support him when he was convicted of assualt whilst playing for Rangers.
