Has Gerrard blown his chance ?

Boss David Moyes was quite deliberate when he critisised the young goalkeeper, who came into the team to replace the out of favour Steve Simonsen. Gerrard let in two goals in half an hour during an awful defensive display by Everton against Leicster on Saturday.

Moyes said: "The goals we lost were criminal, nothing less than that. We defended really poorly and for both goals we made blatant errors.

"Paul knows that he should have done much better, but that happens when you're a goalkeeper at times. That's something we need to address and make sure doesn't happen too often.

"We should have 42 points today, but 40 is what we've got. We drew a game which I would have hoped we'd win, but it wasn't to be."

It looks more and more likely that Everton will be buying a goalkeeper in teh close season, with ian Walker looking like a possible option.
