He wears the number 9...

The official site has confirmed that the club have signed Saha from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee - but we all know that he's arrived on a free - and he'll be with us for two years, maybe three depending upon whether or not he can keep his limbs from falling off.

The 30-year-old striker has been given the number coveted number 9 shirt and his Premier League goalscoring record is certainly up there with the best of them.

He netted 53 goals in 100 starts during his four seasons at Fulham and, despite his injury problems, he scored 28 goals in 53 starts at Old Trafford.

So, should he remain clear of any injuries, there's no reason why he can't be a success at Goodison…the only downside being that he doesn't seem to be able to stay injury-free for very long!

But we've signed a quality striker with a proven Premier League pedigree for no money whatsoever so we can't really lose!

We have lost out on signing Internazionale winger Victor Obinna though as he does not satisfy the UK work permit criteria.

UK employment regulations stipulate that any players from countries outside the EU must have figured in 75 per cent of his countries competitive international matches in the two-years prior to the application being made.

A ruling we're all familiar with after we had the ludicrous situation where Yakubu was almost rejected for a work permit renewal despite having played in England for the best part of his career!

21-year-old Obinna, however, has just broken into the Nigerian national squad and, thus, has figured in just eight games for the Super Eagles, scoring three goals in the process.

It's definitely a blow for the Blues as the winger has been an integral member of the newly promoted Chievo squad and was called back to Internazionale, who own his registration, by manager Jose Mourinho who, presumably, didn't want to give another Serie Aclub the benefit of his abilities.

And that's all the transfer news for now…and just think, in another eight-and-a-half hours you'll be able to stop religiously watching Sky Sports News until the madness begins again in January!
