The 22-year-old striker came on as a second-half substitute in yesterday's Merseyside derby and injected energy and aggression into Everton's attack.
With Louis Saha injured and Yakubu on loan at Leicester, manager David Moyes desperately needs to bring in another striker before he can contemplate letting Vaughan go.
Crystal Palace, Cardiff and Hull have all put offers down in recent weeks and Celtic's interest may excite Vaughan the most.
However, Everton want around £1.5m and that may draw out negotiations to their benefit.
Vaughan is a committed player but not as prolific as Everton require.
They may take another week to bring in the man they want and then do business on Vaughan.
Hoffenheim are to hold a meeting to discuss whether to allow Ba to join Stoke on loan after he failed a medical over the weekend.
The German club believe the injury that showed up is only short-term damage and should not reflect on the price - especially when he was valued at £18m 12 months ago.
Stoke agreed to pay £6m but now want to change the arrangements knowing the player is set on a move to England.
Hoffenheim may now see if they can bring other clubs to the table wary that the longer Ba stays the longer they have a problem as he refuses to play for them.
They want to bring in Everton target Dieumerci Mbokani from Monaco and Hoffenheim general manager Ernst Tanner has to unravel it all by tomorrow.

Jones is still only 23 but seems to have been around for a while after making more than 200 league appearances for Crewe and Preston.
Regarded as one of the better full backs outside the top flight, he has played a lot of football in midfield also.
He is a solid tackler and reads the game well and should have progressed more than he has in recent seasons but has probably suffered with Preston's downturn in fortunes and managerial changes.
Manchester City and Everton were firm admirers at one stage but any move now is likely to be to another Championship side.
Sheffield United are leading the chase but have yet to match Preston's valuation with a slice of any fee still due to go to Crewe.
The 28-year-old former Middlesbrough defender is eager to kickstart his career after being left in the shadow of the resurgent Stephen Carr at Birmingham.
Parnaby came into the squad for the recent FA Cup win over Millwall and played well.
That caught the eye of a few scouts who have reported back to their clubs and Leeds now look eager to take him on loan.
Parnaby hopes to talk to manager Alex McLeish today to see if he will let him go in the hope that he can play a part in Leeds' promotion push.
McLeish may be reluctant as he is short of bodies in a squad that is still struggling to steer away from the relegation places and has a long-term injury to Scott Dann to contend with.
