Lukaku- Its time to win trophies

The 22-year-old's first season at Goodison Park after a £28million move from Chelsea fell well short of the previous campaign he spent on loan with the Toffees when they challenged for Champions League qualification.

And despite 20 goals, including being the joint-top scorer in the Europa League, the Belgium international wants to be involved in big games.

"I want to win titles, not just be shadowing at the top," he told Sport/Voetbal magazine.

"I want to know how it feels to play in the big games

I'm 22

It's time to win trophies."

Lukaku has scored 36 goals in 73 appearances for Everton but believes he would have had more had he played in a central role throughout those two seasons.

He was regularly the Toffees' lone front man, but on occasions he was utilised in a wider position as part of manager Roberto Martinez's tactical plan.

However, when the goals dried up as a result, Lukaku felt the need to speak to the manager about his form.

"The coach is the boss but when I notice that something is not right then I say so simply," he said.

"I am a striker

At one point I went to the coach and I said to him 'With all due respect, as winger I'm hopeless

I will only score goals if you put me up front'.

"That was true

The games that I did not score I was on the flank

I played in the middle, then I scored."

Martinez has said often Lukaku has all the capabilities to be a world-class striker and has been impressed by how he has matured during his two years at Goodison Park.
