Moyes spreads word of caution.

"People know that we don't have a big budget so it's stupid some of the players that are getting linked," he said.

"I want to bring success to Everton as much as I did with Preston. I want to breed a club that wins.

"I have had a decent time to see some of the players, but not all of them because winning the games was the most important thing.

"We tried not to chop and change so we had a bit of stability in the team."

Now the chopping and changing has started, cracks are obviously starting to show. Moyes was clearly disappointed with Everton's performance in the 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Blackburn.

"I thought we were poor." Moyes said "Everybody was a couple of levels down from what they should have been. We probably only had about 20 minutes at the start of the second half when we got about them a bit more, got the goal back and I felt we would go on.

"But, we went chasing the ball and allowed Blackburn to pass the ball at that period. The goals came from two set-pieces - the first one I thought was really poor, the second one the keeper makes a decent save and you just hope that it falls to one of your own players.

"Up to today they have played really well and applied themselves excellently. But today we dropped below the standards the players have set in the last month or so."
