No kneed!

The Everton captain could be out until the new year after suffering knee ligament damage in a challenge with Fulham's Dickson Etuhu on Sunday.

Neville came off second best in a 50-50 challenge with the Fulham midfielder and had to be stretchered off the field.

And, though initial reports indicated otherwise, it now looks likely that he will be out for up to four months!

Which is just what we need!

It's at this point we hand over to Mick Rathbone, surely now the most media-savvy physio in the country!

Rathbone said: "An MRI scan on Monday morning has confirmed our fears and it has revealed that Phil has damaged ligaments in the back of his knee."

He added: "He will now rest it for 48 hours to allow the swelling to go down and he will see a specialist in London before a decision is made on how best to manage the injury."

And Neville must be gutted....Mikel Arteta got to go all the way to Madrid to see a specialist when he did his knee in!

This latest injury will make Neville the fifth Everton player in 12 months to face a lengthy lay-off through a serious knee injury as he joins Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka, Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan in the club callipers!

It's a ridiculous statistic and shows how unfortunate Everton have been with injuries over the last year!

We may as well mention Yakubu's ankle injury at this point!

But the Neville injury has given Moyes a major headache, particularly for the AEK Athens game on Thursday.

Tony Hibbert is suspended after his sending off at Olomouc and John Heitinga is ineligible after he played in both legs of Atletico Madrid's 5-2 aggregate win over Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifiers.

Which strikes me as a ridiculous ruling as I can't see why a player should be cup-tied for the Euorpa League just because he has made an appearance in a Champions League fixture.

It's like a player being ineligible for an FA Cup tie because he played for another club in a Carling Cup fixture.

But that's just our luck I guess!
