The Belgium international produced inspired displays in the wins over Manchester United and Aston Villa, but he was subdued in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at West Brom.
Osman believes Fellaini was singled out for some rough treatment by the Baggies and fears future opponents will follow suit in a bid to stifle the imposing Belgian.
"When you are as effective as he is, teams are going to find a way to stop you.
That's up to him and us as a team to find ways around that," Osman said.
"I don't need to go into how the ref was. People are going to try to stop him playing and being effective for us. "On other occasions we have been okay with that and found ways around that, playing in different parts of the field, but apart from the opening half-an-hour on Saturday, we couldn't really operate."
