Pre Match Ramble - Crystal Palace

Some weeks ago, on the way out of the Norwich game at Goodison, I gave my Dad & Brother yet another reason to be glum by whinging for a good half hour abou the tripe we'd just seen.

“It was a bad game, we won” says they....

“No, it was tactical bollocks” say I.....

And so it continued.

As much as I'd have loved for them to be right, they weren't. We've basically been figured out by the rest of the league. They know how we play, and how to beat us. Norwich came close, and since then West Brom & Blackburn have turned us over.

So, what to do? Well, at time like this the manager comes to the fore. Moyes has done an amazing job this year, but he now needs to show that he can adapt and learn. Our tactics have been flawed since January, and they been flawed because they're the same one's we've used all season. There are plenty of smart managers in the Premiership, and they all know our tricks.

When we kick off against Palace on Sunday, I want to see David Moyes do something different, come up with a game plan that will beat the team we're playing on the day, not the one we played back in August. I hope he can rise to the challenge.

I'd also like to see him not keep telling us (& the players) that getting 4th place doesn't matter, as we've already had a great season. True, but does he expect that to motivate them? I think not. The Champion's League is so lucrative, and so hard to get into, that its a chance you have to grasp when it comes, no ifs or buts about it. It's now or never for this current Everton setup.
