Rooney won't face police action

However, Rooney has been warned by the police about his future conduct following the incident.

"Merseyside Police have now had the opportunity of speaking with supporters who complained to police regarding Mr Rooney's behaviour. We have also had the opportunity of viewing a video of the incident." Said a police statment.

"Wayne Rooney will, as a result, be seen by a senior officer at the earliest opportunity in the presence of the club's manager and will be given suitable advice. No further police action is contemplated once we've done that."

Everton have also confirmed that they will take no action against the young striker.
