Same old Everton

David Moyes has indicated that there will be no new names joining the squad during this transfer window.

It was highly anticipated that the Everton boss would, at least, be adding a new striker after Everton have been shorn of all but one recognised striker since November.

A host of names have been linked with the Blues, from Hugo Almeida to the unlikely named Mohammed T'Chite, but Moyes has admitted that two attempts to bring in loan signings have fallen flat.

Moyes said: "We were in for two loan signings and both of them look as though they won't come off."

He added: "They were the ones we were after so unless something comes out of the blue, that's it. They were the two we were interested in and they won't come off."

Which apears to be three different ways of sating exactly the same thing!

It's a huge disappointment as, although we've been doing exceptionally well, particularly given the circumstances, it seems unlikely that the current players available will be able to sustain their performance levels for the rest of the campaign.

Just look at how last season fizzled out!

And, just to compound matters, Everton are waiting on the results of a scan before letting us know just how serious a foot injury Tim Cahill picked up against Arsenal.

It never rains...
