Swede and sour

The 37-year-old Swede was a transfer target for David Moyes in the summer but a combination of Everton not having sold Andy Johnson when Larsson first came to the club's attention and the player's unwillingness to leave midway through the Swedish season meant that the deal never materialised.

But it looks like the deal could be revived as the Swedish season has now finished and Everton really, really need another experienced striker in the squad.

Larsson signed a similar deal with Manchester United in 2007 when he joined United between the opening of the transfer window in January and the start of the Swedish season in March.

Larsson figured in 13 matches during that period and scored three goals including a belter against Villa in the FA Cup.

Last season saw him score 14 goals in 27 games for Helsingborg who eventually finished fourth in the Swedish Allsvenskan...which sounds like it should end with ...'do-is-philander-and look-a-lot-like-Monty-Burns.' A rubbish pun but the best you're gonna get!

But, and there's always a but, at 37, Larsson may welcome the break from playing football and it's always a gamble relying on a player at that stage in his career!

On the more improbable side was the story at the weekend that Everton are about to bid £10 million, where's that coming from, for German hot-shot Lukas Podolski.

Which is never goign to happen really is it?!

But, we're into December so the speculation is going to keep on coming...how long before we're linked with Emile Heskey?!
