Timmy's toes

But there is actually no clarification as to how long our Aussie midfield man will be out for.

Cahill injured his foot during the 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen on Tuesday.

He landed awkwardly after jumping for the ball, just like he did against Sheffield United earlier in the year.

And Everton physio, Mick Rathbone, has admitted that he has injured the same part of his foot as he did at Bramall Lane.

Rathbone said: "He has injured the old fracture site a little bit, not very much at all"

He added: "The extent is still being evalutated to be precise. He is having further x-rays and scans over the weekend"

Rathbone then went on to say: "It is too soon to say (for timescale). He has undoubtedly stressed the site, he landed right on it. It looks pretty minor, the x-rays suggest it is minor but we want a few more people to look at it before we make any statements about timescale"

So no-one actually knows how long he will be out for, but in reality, if he has re-fractured that metatarsal then there is every chance he could be out for another 12 weeks.

But we can't have any bad news on the eve of the ballot can we?!
