Transfer deadline day round-up

Especially after the Andrei Kanchelskis mafia stories a few years ago!

As expected, the Blues have been drawn against a crack Eastern European outfit in the form of the Ukraine's Metalist Kharkiv.

I'm not sure if it's true but I've heard that their 'firm' are hardened vodka drinking navvies that call themselves the Spastic Metalist's.

They finished third in their division last season and that's about all anyone knows about them...go on, Wikipedia them!

We play the first leg of the tie at home on September 20th with the second leg being played on October 4th.

And, the good news is, that Everton will be facing the Ukrainians with Thomas Gravesen, once again, marshalling the midfield.

The Blues re-signed the-man-that-could-have-been-Carsley on loan last night and, if the rumours are to be believed Riquelme could be following him to Goodison.

It's all over everywhere that the Argentine international is holding talks with David Moyes.

So expect him to have signed for Newcastle by midnight.

Along with Steven Appiah.

If we do sign Riquelme though, set pieces should be interesting as he, Gravesen and Arteta all fight over the ball.

Which will leave the way clear for Phil Neville to spoon it into the Bullens!

Enjoy the glorious August sunshine...
