Triple deck

The Brazilian hit man could potentially make his last appearance in an Everton shirt at Craven Cottage tomorrow but Everton are keen to negotiate another deal with Man City to keep him at Everton for a further 12 months.

There's no chance that the Blues could afford to take Jo on a permanent deal as City would want to recoup a large portion of the £19 million they paid last summer to take him to Eastlands from CSKA Moscow.

But, after scoring five goals in 11 appearances for Everton, Jo is thought to be keen to stay on Merseyside and local press reports suggest that David Moyes is keen to keep him to bolster Everton's attack.

However, no contact has been made between the two clubs and Moyes hasn't exactly come right out and told everyone of his desire to hang on to the Brazilian.

His only quote on the matter being: "That's not been put to us or spoken about at all yet. It's not something that, at the moment, we've had any indication they would have any interest in."

So he's hardly beating down Mark Hughes' door to negotiate a new deal!

And, despite scoring five goals in 11 games, you can understand Moyes hesitancy regarding the player as he does tend to have a touch of the 'Tony Cottees' about him, that is, his goals don't tend to win matches but just make them safe!

For instance, his braces against Bolton and Wigan.

But it would be a bonus for the Blues to sign him up on another season long loan as he can only really get better and has already shown a lot of promise during the back half of this campaign.

Interestingly, the official site has just put up an article suggesting that he'll go back Man City after tomorrow's match at Fulham so you can probably disregard all of the above but i've written it now so it's staying!

And Phil Jagielka and Joseph Yobo are also staying - seamless that wasn't it - as the two have signed new five-year-deals.

Both players have committed themselves to Everton until 2014 and David Moyes has stated that he's just as keen to keep players on as sign new ones.

Moyes said: "What we want to do is secure the people we have already got at the club. The next bit is to keep adding on top of that."

He added: "We've got good foundations with all those players on long contracts."

It was no surprise that Phil Jagielka put pen to paper but there was a lot of speculation surrounding Joseph Yobo's signature.

Speculation was rife that the Nigerian defender would look for a deal elsewhere as his appearances have been limited this season due to the outstanding form of both Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott at the heart of the Everton defence.

But Everton have secured Yobo on what will probably be his last major contract.

Which can only be good news for next season...unless it's a pointer that Everton may be ready to cash in on Joleon Lescott, which is the angle that most of the national press will be going for come the summer!

And, just out of interest, can anyone explain why, out of all the photos there must be knocking around of him, Wikipedia have chosen to use this one for Joseph Yobo's profile?
