Watford's Abdoulaye Doucouré Agrees Terms With Everton

Watford midfielder Abdoulaye is one step closer to a move to Everton, having signed off on the personal terms of a four-year contract.

The 27-year-old Frenchman has been a near-constant figure in Watford's starting eleven since moving from Rennes in 2016, and has since drawn the attention of a number of Premier League clubs for his midfield displays.

Doucouré was in fact pursued by the Toffees last summer, but Watford turned down a £30m bid which would have seen him make the move to Merseyside.

With the Hornets now relegated from the top flight, however, a number of players are expected to depart from Vicarage Road, and Téléfoot have suggested that Doucouré could well be one of them after successfully agreeing personal terms with Everton.

Doucouré's firm intention is to broker a move away from Watford, and his eagerness to remain in the Premier League means that he has made a move to Everton a priority.

Though the Hornets have rejected a first bid from Everton for a man who has been one of their key players in recent years, the Toffees intend to return with an improved second bid for the wantaway midfielder.

Amidst the speculation linking Doucouré to an Everton move, Napoli's Allan has also been named by as a target for Ancelotti as he attempts to shake up a stale midfield where Tom Davies and Gylfi Sigurdsson in particular have failed to impress.

Indeed, Sky's Gianluca di Marzio has confirmed that Doucouré is part of a planned overhaul of Everton's squad which would also feature the signings of Allan and Roma winger Alessandro Florenzi.

Di Marzio has since confirmed (via Fabrizio Romano), that Everton are negotiating for the Brazilian midfielder, who has been a crucial element in Gennaro Gattuso's Coppa Italia-winning side.
