Wings

Albert Riera's current club, Espanyol, have given the winger 72-hours to decided whether his future lies at Goodison or the tin mine.

But I don't think anyone of a blue persuasion is holding they're breath over this one as, given the choice between Goodison and the tapas bar across the park, it's hard to see just why the Spaniard would nail his colours to the Everton mast!

And, given the £12 million price tag and the general feeling that the Espanyol man is not actually that good, he was a big disappointment during his six-month loan spell at Man City a couple of years ago, it's unlikely that anyone will be that bothered if we don't sign him.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, on the other hand, is a player that most Blues would be very disappointed on missing out on.

A player of proven top flight quality, admit it he's a right pain in the arse whenever he comes on against anyone, he'd give us some much needed pace down the flanks.

He's also a very direct player and it's been a while since we've had anyone that will just take control of the ball and leg it full pelt at the opposition…although Kevin Kilbane springs to mind!

The frustrating thing about the two deals though is that we have allegedly offered £12 million for Albert Riera yet we're looking to take Wright-Phillips on a year-long loan.

Man City, on the other hand, have offered a firm £9 million for a player they offloaded for £24 million a few years ago.

But Chelsea don't seem to mind where he goes, they don't need the money, and the final decision seems to be with the player.

So, it's keep your eyes on Sky Sports news folks, just like it's been all summer!
