Bungling big cats

The latest of these came on Sunday as the Tigers were defeated 74-90 at home to sixth placed Guildford Heat.

Speaking of Guildford Heat, can there be any other sporting team with a name that sounds like a late night ITV program focussing on the vice squad of a provincial police force?

Anyway, things were looking good for the Tigers a couple of weeks ago as they led the BBL Championship and were in the semi-finals of the BBL Trophy.

But two semi-final defeats to Newcastle Eagles, and this latest slip-up to Guildford Heat have meant that the Tigers have lost their grip on the BBL Trophy and have been pushed into third place in the BBL Championship by Newcastle Eagles and Scottish Rocks - the only team to be named after something Renton's drug of choice in Trainspotting.

The good news for the Tigers is that, despite trailing Newcastle by four points and Scottish by two points, they have two games in hand on the Eagles and three in hand on the Rocks.

Next up for the Tigers is London Capital - the BBL's West Brom - at home on Friday and then it's second placed Scottish Rocks away on Sunday.

After the recent run of results this is a big weekend for the Tigers!
