Champions League Ladies

Michelle Hinnigan, a 57th minute substitute for Emily Westwood scored the all important goal in the 92nd minute.

With Strommen's superior goal difference, Everton Ladies had to beat the Norwegian outfit, something that was looking less and less likely as an evenly matched contest wore on.

Strommen were looking good for the draw, and to progress to the Champions League Knockout stage, until Hinnigan's last gasp intervention.

The Everton midfielder beat two players on the halfway line before sliding the ball out wide to Natasha Dowie.

Dowie surged down the wing before delivering a pin point cross towards the penalty spot that Hinnigan met with a spectacular bicycle kick to send Everton through.

At least that's what I hope happend as there wasn't even a mention of the win on the official site, let alone any of the satellite news channels!

Anyway, it's onwards and upwards for Everton Ladies who must now concentrate on their preparations for the opening game of the season, a trip to Leeds Carnegie on Sunday 16th August.

Everton boys, meanwhile, lost 1-2 at Blackpool last night, as they continue with their astonishingly indifferent pre-season schedule!

Must have had one too many goes on the Avalanche before the game!
