Keeping up with the girls

After getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal Ladies they have not conceded a goal in the six games since that defeat and have actually beaten the Gunners' girls down in London.

The match after that FA Cup defeat saw Everton Ladies travel back down to the capital to face the team that have become pretty much untouchable in women's football.

But a stunning display saw the Blues go two up in the first 13 minutes thanks to goals from Fara Williams and Michelle Hinnigan.

Jill Scott then put the game well out of Arsenal's reach eight minutes into the second half and condemned Arsenal Ladies to their first domestic defeat since Everton Ladies beat them in last season's League Cup final.

And it's the first time they've been beaten in the league for about three years too!

That win, coupled with a tremendous run in the League which has seen no goals conceded in six games and 16 points taken, has put Everton Ladies on the same number of points as Arsenal with one game in hand.

The Gunners have a superior goal difference of +74 to the Blues' +56 but a win for Everton at Doncaster tomorrow night (Wednesday 6th) would see them in the box seat for the title going into the last game of the season...which is at home to Arsenal!

Kick off is 2pm on Sunday 10th May at Marine FC's Rossett Park in Crosby...it's got to be worth a trip down there!
