So quite why the News Now story (you don't think I've got some secret insdier knowlegde do you?!) was accompanied by this picture of Simon Cowell is beyond me.

 reyes

Anyway, the pock-faced former Arsenal diver has is not having the best of time at Atletico, having failed to score in 18 appearances this season.

He was farmed out to Benfica last term and scored five goals for the Portuguese club and Madrid are considering letting him go again in January.

The Spanish winger obvioulsy has Premier League experience having been signed by Arsenal in 2003 for £10.5 million so it's hard to see how such a deal wouldn't be beneficial for Everton.

Though he's not the most prolific, he scored just 23 goals in 110 games for the Gunners, he always looked a class act even if a little prone to taking a tumble too easily.

Fernandes is up for grabs again as he has played just 11 minutes of football with Valencia this season...he made the right move there didn't he?!

But after using us as levearge to get his man a better deal at Valencia Fernandes' agent, Jorge Mendes, has come out and basically said his man has had enough of life at the Mestalla.

Mendes said: "There is a serious chance of him going to Everton. Manuel wants to make sure of his place in the Portugal side and this is impossible with Valencia."

But Valencia's sporting director Fernando Gomez, you could actually make these names up they're that spanish, countered the claims insisting that a fibula injury is the only thing stopping Fernandes from claiming a place in the first team.

Gomez said: ""Manuel Fernandes was injured and we still don't know how important he could be to the team. I personally believe that he can be very important."

And when asked about the chances of the player leaving, he added: "It would depend on the proposal."

Here we go again!
