Neill is currently without a club after rejecting a one-year extension to his deal with West Ham in the summer and so we'd be able to sign him, for nothing, even though the transfer window is closed.
Neill started his career at Millwall before moving to Blackburn for a fee of around £1 million in the summer of 2001.
He left Ewood Park, under a cloud so it seems, in 2006 and, despite interest from the shite, decided upon a move to Upton Park, costing the Hammers £1.5 million.
So, if we do sign him, he could be in the squad to face his former club, Blackburn Rovers, and will probably have to 'run a gauntlet of hate' - whatever one of them is - from the 16 or so travelling fans!
