Distin Huth man

According to sources (Sky Sports News at daft o'clock this morning) both Everton and Aston Villa have had bids accepted by Portsmouth for  Sylvain Distin.

It's unclear whether Villa are just trying to 'pull a Tottenham' on us and bidding for him so we don't get him but if both clubs have had bids accepted then it's down to the players preference.

On the up side, Distin is familiar  with the North West having played for Man City.

On the down side Villa are sure to offer the player better personal terms.

So it looks like the Blues are once again going to kept hanging on the whims of a player and his 'advisors'.

There's been no word rom either Everton or Villa on this matter but Portsmouth chief executive, Peter Storrie, has only confirmed that Everton have made a bid for the player.

Storrie said: "Sylvain told us that he wanted to go and we have had a bid from Everton."

He added: "I expect him to go, although I'm not quite sure how soon. It is disappointing because we would have liked to have kept him. We even offered him a new contract. We had previously turned down approaches, too. But Sylvain wants to go."

So it's another case of wait and see really.

Oh, before I forget, the referee for tonight's match is a Frenchman called Fredy Fautrel...can't wait to see that cat and I'll be disappointed if he doesn't take a last drag on a Gauloise before stubbing it with his toe in the centre circle and blowing for kick off.

Anyway, transfer nonsene, David Moyes has reiterated that he wants to bring in four new players before the transfer window closes.

We already have the Russian fella and the Everton manager is confident that a deal will be worked out to bring Argentinian nut job Ever Banega over from Valencia.

The other two signings will most likely be defenders and Middlesbrough's Robert Huth is one of the front runners to join the Everton ranks...possibly to keep Shkodran Mustafi company  and so people can go around saying: "Are you two brothers?"
