And, let's face it if there is any money it's going to be in some coffers and not an Aston Villa style 'war chest'.

Anyway, the 28-year-old fullback, though he can probably do a turn at centre-half or midfield, he's Scandanavian after all, is set to sign a one-year-deal with the Blues some time today.

He's been the Danish international right back for two years now but the alarm bells have already started to ring due to the fact that he made just seven appearances for Nuremburg last season.

Which suggests that he's either injury prone or just rubbish!

But, having not seen him play, no judgements can be made and he's in on a free so we've nothing to lose really…and we've hardly got an abundance of international class right backs on our books!

It's just such an underwhelming signing that it's hard not to feel cynical about it, and just about everything else, right now!

In other transfer related nonsense, the whole Tiago deal has become somewhat clouded as there's another one of them, Thiago Motta, who is looking to leave Atletico Madrid.

So it's uncertain whether or not we're trying to broker a deal for Tiago, the former Chelsea midfielder now stepping out for Juventus, or Thiago Motta, an injury-prone former Barcelona midfielder that has become surplus to requirements at Atletico Madrid…now call me cynical if you want but I think I can guess the more likely signing out of those two!

And, keeping with the Spanish theme, it looks as though Espanyol's Albert Riera will sign for out loveable neighbours despite the Blues offering a good £4 million more for the player…there's a surprise then!

The most exciting prospect though appears to be the fact that Chelsea misfit, he just looks like a misfit anyway, Shaun Wright-Phillips is going to be up for grabs for a relatively cut-price £9 million.

So expect a lot of collar loosening and shifty looks from the Everton board as they realise that a player has become available that is both within our budget and would add some much needed quality to our squad.

All this cynicism and we bloody well won at the weekend!
