According to several sources, Everton have turned down an £8 million bid from Besiktas for striker Louis Saha.
And it's a story that can't even be dismissed as paper talk as the official site is quoted as saying: "David Moyes has revealed Everton turned down a significant offer for Louis Saha during this summer's transfer window."
It then goes on to say how a bid for £8 million was rejected by the Everton manager and the player himself does not want to leave Goodison.
Moyes is then quoted as saying: "Louis is someone we had a big bid for. But he didn't want to go and we didn't want to sell. It's great news Louis wants to stay."
Well yeah, it is great news that he wants to stay as he is a class act.
But £8 million pound for an injury prone player that turned 30 yesterday (8th August) is an awful lot of money to turn down.
And that means that, in the last week, Everton have rejecetd a possible £27 million for two players!
Which is good in so much as it shows the banks aren't on our backs to pay back that 'worrying debt' we're carrying.
But, given the size of the sqaud and the apparent lack of transfer funds available, are we really in a position to turn down that sort of money?
Apparently so....
