Silva lining

Which is pretty good going as the transfer window closed nearly two months ago!

But, according to a glut of internet sites - of which we are one now I guess - the Blues have tied up a deal to bring Portuguese youngster Joao Silva to Goodison in the summer.

The 19-year-old has scored 11 goals for Bradford Park Avenue - sorry, Deportivo das Ave - this season and is setting the Portuguese second division on fire!

Unfortunately, we're still awaiting YouTube videos of him nutmegging various centre halves and scoring audacious goals against such unprounounceable Segunda Divisão sides such as Pinhalnovense, Atlético de Reguengos or even Eléctrico...who just sound dead exciting!

That's probably because all of those teams are in the third tier of Portuguese football which is, confusingly, called Segunda Divisão.

The second tier is called Liga Vitalis, due to it being sponsored by Vitalis, and hosts the slightly more pronounceable S.C Freamunde, U.D Oliveirense and Gil Vicente F.C...which sounds like a European private investigator!

I actually give up on this story now...it's probably all nonsense anyway!
