Silva machine

The 20-year-old has become the second striker that David Moyes has signed this summer and may be one more nail in Yakubu's Goodison coffin.

Of course the Yak doesn't actually have a coffin at Goodison, or anywhere else I'd imagine, it's just a metaphor - and a bad one at that - to suggest that his time as an Everton player could be nearing an end.

Back to Joao Silva - how exactly is Joao prounounced? - and the Silva (goal) machine, we hope, has put pen to paper on a three year deal that will take him from Aves to Everton.

He scored 14 goals in 32 games in the Portuguese second division last term, so those that wish to question the ability of a player to make the jump from such a tinpot league to the heights of the Premier League may as well do so now.

And you may as well throw in that Portuguese strikers are also notoriously shite!

Then only other thing you need to know is that he's 6'2" tall, plays for the Portuguese national side at under-20 level, is highly regarded at this level and, if you put a search for Joao Silva into Google Image then you get all sorts of grim pictures of war torn areas and very few pictures of the hank seen signing on at Goodison today!

I'm presuming this isn't him...
